In this video, I show how I would style a few different pieces for my roommate Jazlyn. She’s a twenty year old accounting major who loves the New York chic style with a mix of the preppy Gossip Girl look.

I used a lot of fall and winter pieces for the upcoming seasons but because we do live in Texas, I added a few tank tops and warmer weather pieces. For her style I used a lot of brown and tan colors with silk and plaid pieces. A really popular style right now is the straight legged pants, which I practically used for most of her outfits. The look will give her the long legged look, because she is kind of short, it helps. I also paired a lot of little tops with baggy pants, I tried to explain in the video that there is a new rule of thumb when choosing outfits and it is little top, big pants or big top, little pants. This is used so the outfit doesn’t look to frumpy and oversized or to tight and showy.

I really loved using the pleaded white skirt because it is a really liked piece at the moment, but it is difficult to style because it does have a younger look to it. I have one of my own and tend to feel like an anime character when I wear it, but nonetheless it does make me feel really cute and makes the outfit really pop. It’s good to pair the skirt with a more formal top to give it the mature look, but it’s okay to use graphic tees and lace tanks to make it stand out! I also the plaid pants are my favorite piece because of versatile it really is. These pants can be worn to a nice dinner, a day out with the girls, or a job interview. The cropped ankle allows you to style them with boots and sneakers, I would stay away from heels when wearing the pants just because they would make the ankle look too short.

The red and white pants is a good way to dress up an outfit but also be comfortable. Colored denim makes outfits pop, especially paired with black or white tops. The buttons that replaced the zipper on the red pants, are always a good way to make you look slimmer. The buttons are usually used for high wasted denim and creates a slimmer look on the stomach area. The carpenter pants are a unique trendy style that a lot of Instagrammers are wearing now, a lot of people pair it with camo or black tops. I like to pair it with black to give it more of a skater girl vibe. These outfits we’re some of my favorites, I loved getting to mix different pieces to create the perfect style for my roommate!
