Sorority Life

Sorority formal recruitment in the fall is one of the most terrifying things you can go through, but when I went through recruitment in the spring, it was a lot more casual and not so scary. I was able to meet some of the girls from the chapter and just have casual conversations with them. We watched movies and got coffee together, and then after a few days of hanging out they offer you a bid. I also think this process was a lot less scarier because my bestfriend and I went through it together. We ended up both getting a bid from Gamma Phi Beta and now were both sorority sisters.

Being in a sorority doesn't seem like a big deal, but it impacts my life heavily. I've been able to meet a bunch of cool people and also get really invovled in campus life. Because of my sorority, I have been doing a lot of community service with the food bank on campus and I've learned how to time manage. I'm Gamma Phi's social chair, so I've learned how to plan big events and budget properly. A lot of people think being in a sorority is negative, but it's what you make of it, when you get invovled and have a positive outlook on it, you enjoy your time a lot more.

Coming from a really dark place when I transferred, being in the sorority has given me a lot of support. I met my best friend, who is also my Big Sister in the sorority. The connection I've made with her has been life changing. It only got better when I became a Big Sister and became really close with my Little. These girls are my family now, they make me laugh and hug me when I cry. I think being in the sorority has brought me close connections and important work ethics.

Here's some things to think about during sorority recruitment!
